The Rise of a “Tropical Morning”
Before moving forward Gerry obtained a quote for producing a 14 color custom design. In order to provide flexibility with the budget, quotes for the same pattern using only 12 and 10 colors were also issued. This project was funded by a donor who preferred, and was willing to fund, the 14 color version.
The art department went to work. Within 10 days, Gerry received a rough sketch of the concept to present to the designer.
From Concept to Product
After the rough sketch was approved, the artist began painting the composition. This finished painting was also sent to Gerry for approval. After a bit of tweaking, the painting and colors were approved. The artwork was then scanned and separations were produced using computer technology. From the separations, the strikeoff screens were created for printing the final vinyl strikeoff.
Since the designer wanted the finished goods to look more like wallpaper than vinyl wallcovering, a custom color ground with a matte coating that would appear like paper was developed. Lab samples of this custom vinyl were used to print the final strikeoff.
Gerry Deas presented the strikeoff to the designer and it was approved. Today, the custom wallcovering, Tropical Morning, adds a touch of drama to the formal dining room at a senior living establishment in Charlotte, NC.
This project utilized the full gamut of custom possibilities: Custom Artwork, Custom Colors, and Custom Ground. Our 30 years of experience in custom wallcoverings help us to uncover the most efficient way to produce quality customs.
